Although Lake Ronkonkoma, NY has come very far from its days as a Summer Resort, it still maintains its old charm and beauty. As such, it is still a top recreational destination and a tranquil place to spend a few hours in the Town of Brookhaven. On top of its many attractions and recreational areas, Lake Ronkonkoma also hosts several annual events every year. Most of these events are family-friendly and feature lots of fun activities. The following are some of the annual events and festivals you can’t afford to miss in Lake Ronkonkoma and its surroundings:
Ronkonkoma Street Fair
Ronkonkoma Street Fair is one of the most celebrated summer events in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY. This early September festivals features food trucks, music, live entertainment, art and craft, merchandise vendors, games, live entertainment, and a beer garden. The event is a perfect chance to hang out with family members and friends and enjoy some good old fashioned fun.
Princess of the Lake Festival
Celebrated for the first time in June 2019, the Princess of the Lake Festival is aimed at promoting the local tourism industry and celebrates iconic “Princess of Ronkonkoma” sculpture that was recently installed in the CDP. Organized by the New York State Division of Tourism in conjunction with Lake Ronkonkoma Heritage Association, the event featured live handicrafts demonstrations, information desks, historical displays, vendors, music, and food. The festival is expected to evolve and incorporate even more activities in the coming years.
Menorah Lighting
Sponsored by the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce, Menorah Lighting is a popular event during the festive season in Lake Ronkonkoma. The event takes place at the famous Raynor Beach County Park and is highlighted by the lighting of the Menorah, songs, prayers, and snacks associated with the Hanukkah festival.
Christmas Celebration
At the beginning of the month of December every year, the residents of Lake Ronkonkoma and other nearby communities congregate at the Raynor Beach County Park to usher in the festive season through one of the community’s oldest traditions; the Christmas Celebration. Apart from the Christmas Tree Lighting and a visit from Santa, the locals also get to enjoy free candy canes, hot chocolate and live presentations from local school choirs.
